Dear Sirs,I graduated an Officer of the Navy Academy of the Republic of Venezuela in 2004 where I served seven years, retiring as a Lieutenant. At the present time I am a Merchant Marine Officer (Deck Officer/OOW Unlimited II/1) living in Spain. I have over 10 years of sailing experience working both as an Officer in the Navy and on Merchant Ships. Throughout my career I have worked on many different types of vessels and have managed crews ranging from five to fifty members. I have held many different positions over my career, with them carrying different responsibilities including supervising and maintaining vessel electrical operations, maintaining safety equipment and conducting safety drills, managing a multi million dollar vessel supply budget and actively participating in the international aid effort following the 2008 Hurricane Gustav in Haiti and Cuba. I have always been passionate about sailing and have spent most of my life on the water, from childhood up to my recent service in the Navy.
