At present I am working as a Second Officer, employed Fletcher Shipping. The company, comprising of Platform Support Vessels, focuses its efforts on the offshore facet of the Merchant Naval industry. However due to the current economic climate, we are facing redundancy as of March 31st 2016. Subsequently, I’ll be seeking employment from that date. Notwithstanding, I believe the experience gained during this period will make me a worthy candidate and valuable contributor to any subsequent post within the field. Given that we are a crew of only fifteen, my current role requires a heightened level of responsibility, often acting on behalf of either the Captain or Chief Officer to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations. Understanding of the decision making process at higher ranks, would be an asset in any future role. In addition, I have extensive experience in manoeuvring vessels within the harbour and alongside oil platforms. Ship handling of experience of this nature would benefit any bridge team. Lastly, having sole responsibility for Life Saving Appliances, Fire Fighting Appliances and Navigational Equipment, I have developed an elevated level of competence when it comes to the fundamental duties of a junior officer. I am keen to pursue any role which my credentials might suit, and excited about the challenges ahead as I embark upon the next chapter of the career.
