COVER LETTER
I'm experienced Second Officer with Chief Officer unlimited license or Chief Officer without experience in this position.
I graduated Kyiv State Maritime Academy, Department of Navigation- Bachelor degree.
For the fourteen years period at sea and three and a half years on river I was working on different types of vessels and in various positions.
In the Second Officer position, I worked one contract on General Cargo Vessel, several contracts on Container Vessels with cranes, one contract on Container Vessel with capacity of 1800 TEU, one contract on Container Vessel up to 2500 TEU, but most of my experience I spent on Feeder Container Vessels up to 1100 TEU with capacity.
The navigation area of 99 percent was Europe, this includes the East part of Atlantic Ocean, Baltic, North, Irish, Mediterranean and Black Seas, Gulf of Bothnia, and Gulf of Finland, this of course includes the passage of the Suez Canal, the Bosporus Strait, Dardanelles Strait, the English Channel, Bay of Biscay, the Strait of Gibraltar, the Messina Strait and all other various straits and narrows in these areas. Caribbean Sea, West part of Atlantic Ocean Indian Ocean that is last one percent.
Mostly I worked in an international (mix) crew: Ukrainians, Russians, Turks, Azerbaijanis, Filipinos, Lithuanians, Latvians, Finns, Estonians, Bulgarians, Romanians, Indians, Greeks, Chinese, Italians, Dutch, British, Irish, Indonesians, Capeverdians, Israel.
For the entire period of work on vessels, I had an experience in various fields of activity:
Three times the experience in the (acceptance) takeover of the New-Built vessels from shipyard.
Several contracts of Ice navigation experience.
Repeatedly was on board ships during the transition to paperless navigation.
Experience in passing: Port Control, GL, Flag State inspections, ISM & ISPS audits.
Navigation watch at sea: 90% observation, navigation and 10% office work.
Cargo watch: Cargo planning and loading, Extensive experience in handling of containers, Ballast Operations; Communication with planners, stevedores and agents; Damage reports...;
Working hours when the ship is in port or at sea: Maintenance and greasing of deck, cargo, mooring and rescue mechanisms; LSA, PPE, FFE, on board; Organization and carrying out of ISM & ISPS code on board; Ship Drills and Trainings;
ECDIS (paperless navigation), paper Nautical charts, nautical (paper and digital) publications their corrections and updating; Preparations of the Passage Plans;
The inspection and verification of GMDSS equipment according to the radio regulations (daily, weekly, monthly, arrival, departure... testing);
Crew change: Updating and replacing all necessary documents. Familiarization of new crew.
Arrival and Departure to / from Ports: Arrival and Departure documents;
Medicine: Hospital inventory; Accident Report; Medical Report; First aid and treatment.
Miscellaneous: CLS Reports, SDB Reports, Monthly Total Distance report; Bluefleet reports; Ration reports; Catering Report & Provision order; VTS reports; Port reports; Monthly overtimes & rest periods; Slop chest; Catering Report & Provision order; etc...As well as various additional tasks, instruction and orders of the Captain.
