I understudy the Master in all aspects of responsibilities and able to maintain ship’s correspondence with the Office and Third Parties at Master’s level.

Navigation & GMDSS Equipment: JRC // ECDIS: JRC JAN-901B (holder of type specific certificate).
Solid experience in the areas of heavy traffic with the clusters of fishing boats: BOHAI SEA, YELLOW SEA, EAST CHINA SEA, SOUTH CHINA SEA, INDONESIAN SEAS, PHILIPPINES SEAS, SINGAPORE & MALACCA STRAITS, TAIWAN STRAIT, DOVER STRAIT, TURKISH STRAITS, DANISH STRAITS – navigation without pilots.
Ice Navigation experience: holder of CoP ‘Advanced Training for the Ships operating in Polar Waters’.
Designated Cargo Officer and Ballast Water Management Officer using USCG approved system ECOCHLOR with two-step process to treat ballast: the chemical (ClO2) injection + filtration.
As a Cargo Officer the below scope of duties were essential during tenure on board:
- Issuing standing orders and port orders in compliance with Company Guidelines and SMS;
- Vessel’s cargo worthiness and pre-loading preparations;
- Safe cargo loading, stowing and securing;
- Monitoring that the stresses (Shear Forces and Bending Moment) are always within the limits;
- Ensuring that stability of the ship always complies with the Intact Stability Code requirements as well acceptable for the Damage Stability Criteria;
- Care of cargo during the passage;
- Safe discharge of cargo;
- Maintaining records of cargo parameters, sounding of ballast tanks and other spaces;
- Informing Chief Engineer for the distribution and consumption of Fresh Water & Fuel for the stability requirements and keeping vessel’s upright for the most accurate calculation of cargo quantity during Draft Surveys;
- Ballasting/De-ballasting is in compliance with the approved Ballast Water Management Plan;
- Maintaining records for ballast operations;
- Ensuring that cargo related checklists and work instructions are in compliance.
Safety & Security Officer
- Duties of a Safety Officer as per schedule, regular Safety Meetings as per Company Directions;
- Ensure that Risk Assessment carried out prior starting the work;
- Ensure that Permit System is being strictly followed and executed;
- Ensure that crew is aware and constantly using BeSafe+ system;
- Near-Misses and Incident reports are properly filled in case of any;
- Ensure the compliance with the Rest Hours Management System;
- Preparations on deck for arrival into port or congested waters;
- Mooring/Unmooring operations;
- Securing decks for proceeding at sea;
- Preparation of vessel prior entry into heavy weather or extreme cold weather;
- Duties of SSO as per Ship Security Plan;
- Drug & Stowaway Searches prior every departure from port.
Environmental Protection
- Keeping Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan up-to-date;
- Maintaining the inventory of SOPEP Equipment to be ready for immediate use;
- Ensuring the compliance with the ship specific Garbage Management Plan;
- Maintaining records for the Garbage Discharge in respective Log Books;
- Maintaining records for the Waste Disposal Certificates to Shore Reception Facilities;
- Ensuring the compliance with the Pest Control Plan;
- Ensuring the compliance with the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan;
- Assisting Master and Chief Engineer to maintain ISO 14001 standard.
Shipboard Maintenance
- Ensuring the compliance with the deck Planned Maintenance System (PMS);
- Keeping records and various reports for the maintenance as per PMS;
- Guiding Third Officer for the inspection and maintenance of life-saving and firefighting appliances on deck & accommodation;
- Maintenance of the hull, decks, accommodation and tanks;
- Regular monitoring of the hull for the fouling;
- Condition and operation of deck & cargo equipment;
- Upkeep and maintenance of all deck stores & work safety equipment on deck.
Personnel Management
- Ensuring the compliance with the safety and environment protection by ship and shore personnel;
- Supervision of junior officers during port watches;
- Allocating Daily Work to the deck and catering crew;
- Preparation of Appraisal Reports for deck & catering crew, advising Master on Junior Officers performance.
Training and Drills
- Planning and execution of safety training and emergency drill schedules;
- Safety familiarization for on-signers, guiding Third Officer;
- Job familiarization of deck and catering staff;
- Cargo and Ballast familiarization of deck officers;
- Training of Deck Cadets as per company Training Record Book.
Administration and Recordkeeping
- Upkeep of Deck Log Book and reports concerning Cargo Monitoring and Deck Maintenance;
- Upkeep of all respective Log Books (Garbage, Ballast, Security);
- Maintaining inventory for consumption records of deck stores, spares and paints;
- Preparation of Requisitions for deck stores, spares and paints;
- Scrutinizing Requisitions from other Deck Officers prior submitting to Master;
- Receiving and signing for deck stores, spares and paints.
Professional Experience
- Bulk Cargoes: Copper Concentrate, Petroleum Coke;
- General Cargoes: Carbone Anode Blocks & Equipment;
- 4 Ship Cranes with the SWL 30.5 MT.
