Throughout my career, I have gained extensive knowledge and experience in a range of areas relevant to the Deck Officer role. I possess strong navigational and operational skills and am well-versed in the use of navigation and communication equipment. As a 2nd officer on an oil/chemical tanker, I believe that possessing certain personality traits and professional attitudes is essential to perform my job effectively. I am highly detail-oriented and understand the importance of checking everything twice. I recognize that leadership is critical in effectively managing the work of junior officers and crew members. I delegate tasks, provide clear instructions, and make decisions quickly and confidently. I possess strong technical skills, including an in-depth understanding of cargo operations, navigation equipment, and ship stability principles. I maintain a professional demeanor at all times and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Safety is my top priority. I understand the importance of complying with international maritime regulations and standards, and I am committed to maintaining a safe working environment for the crew and protecting the environment. I have developed the ability to think critically and solve problems quickly, particularly in emergency situations. I am adaptable and able to adjust to changing circumstances. As a 2nd officer on a chemical/oil tanker, I take pride in embodying these qualities to the best of my abilities. As a Deck Officer of a merchant fleet with 93 months of seagoing time, including 55 months in the rank of 3rd/2nd officer on oil/chemical tankers, I have had many valuable experiences throughout my career. In my role as a 3rd Officer, I gained experience in FFE/LSA inspection and maintenance. I was responsible for ensuring that all safety and fire-fighting equipment was in compliance with international safety standards and regulations. Additionally, I ensured that the crew received the necessary training and CBT in the use of all safety and fire-fighting equipment. As a 2nd Officer, I am responsible for the operation and maintenance of navigational equipment. I am also responsible for route planning and periodical paper/electronic and ECDIS updates. My strong technical skills and attention to detail are essential in ensuring the safe and efficient navigation of the vessel.
