As a cook on ships, I am responsible for preparing the daily menu following the recipes and instructions provided. I have good basic professional knowledge of all sections of classical, international, Ukrainian, Georgian cuisine.
I am responsible for the product as a whole, taking into account the rotation method and using previous experience on the ship and knowledge of the USPH and HCCP. Confident in timing of food preparation and also control wastage.
• Prepare all basic food items according to the menu.
• Possess advanced knife handling and galley safety skills.
• I work in any part of the kitchen, having basic knowledge of each process.
• Have good food knowledge and understanding of culinary terms.
• Able to read, understand, follow and prepare company recipes.
• I promptly solve assigned tasks for efficient and productive work on the ship.
• Follow public health guidelines according to company standards and expectations (meaning USA, Canada, Australia, etc.) always within my section.
• Support my assigned area in preparation for announced or unannounced public health inspections conducted by either the Food and Beverage Manager or actual inspectors.
I report for duty at the appointed time and ensure that my appearance, uniform and personal hygiene comply with sanitary rules and regulations.
Attend meetings, training events, courses and all other work related activities as required.
Responsible for cost containment through proper use, handling and maintenance of records, reports, supplies and equipment.
From a safety perspective, have a thorough understanding of the ship's rules/regulations (SMS) and participate in all required safety drills/trainings.
May be assigned from time to time to assist the purchasing team with storage operations
Higher education, more than 5 years of experience in the kitchen.
I have the required computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite 2003 and higher (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Knowledge of general office practice, procedures and equipment; ability to prioritize tasks and work independently; strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with senior management and owner representatives.
